Born and raised in Chicago, IL, in 2005 Dorothy moved to New York to study art and work in fashion. Having grown up an athlete, Dorothy has long understood the importance of physical exertion and its vast array of physical and emotional health benefits.
Originally drawn to yoga for its demanding physical practice, finding refuge from demanding work environments, her practice developed and deepened out of an interest in yoga’s ability to instill steadiness and calm.
By a stroke of good luck, in spring 2016, Dorothy left the fashion industry to attend the Jivamukti Teacher Training, where her interest in bringing the benefits of yoga and meditation to others blossomed. Dorothy completed the MINDFRESH Teacher Certification in 2017, and in May of 2018, Dorothy completed the Jivamukti 800-Hour Apprenticeship Program with her mentor Rima Rani Rabbath.
Inspired by the ancient teachings of yoga, Dorothy's classes are a vigorous physical exploration, encouraging her students to explore the wisdom of yogic practices through intentional movement, focused body and breath awareness, and the power of aspiration.
Now dedicated to her study of these sacred texts and practices, Dorothy’s continues to practice and teach yoga and meditation in New York City and Brooklyn.
